A Busy Time...

Things have been a bit busy around here lately.  Brenna is preparing for her Dance Recital (on June 20) while still playing school and town soccer.  Andrew is loving t-ball.  He has games during the week and on the weekend so it is keeping us running.  But the weather has started to turn, and that makes it all so much more fun.

It was drizzling during Andrew's t-ball game yesterday so I did not get any good pictures. Luckily the sun broke by the time Brenna had soccer, and I was able to get a few of her playing. I really need to get some.  Next week is the last week of soccer, but I will not be there as Andrew has a t-ball game at the same time.  Todd will be finishing up at our yard sale (that's another story) and I did not want to tax him with taking pictures that day too!

As it turns out, the "doughnuts for goals" idea was the best inspiration for Brenna.  She got two goals in yesterdays game!  She was so excited that she asked us to put her in a soccer camp this summer.  It is nice to see her enjoying playing.  It as if things are starting to click for her.

She was a girl on a mission.

She shoots and....

she scores!!!!

This is a picture of Brenna and two of her best friends here in Mass.  Austin, Julianne and Brenna were is the same class last year in Kindergarden and have remained so, despite Austin going to a different school and the girls being in separate classes this year.  They were all very excited to on the same soccer team this Spring.

Well we are excited to be heading out to a friends' house today for a Memorial Day Cook-out.  There will be a bunch of kids, and even a moon bounce for the kids.  It will be great to just hang out and relax.  We hope that you have a wonderful long weekend!

T-Ball has begun

Andrew had his 1st T-Ball game last night.  He was so excited.  Todd skipped out of work a little early so we could all be there.

The game was played at one of the local fields in Plymouth, Stephen's Field.  It is right on the water, and was the perfect place to watch a game.

The Cubs, Andrew's team, were at bat first.  Andrew batted third in the rotation.  I have to admit that I was a bit nervous when he 1st was up at bat.  I did not know if he would really know what to do.  But his Coach is great, and he made sure that he knew to run to first base after he hit.  He was so thrilled when he crossed Home Plate and got a point.

When he fielded, he played left field and short stop.  All of the kids were downright adorable.  It was so much fun to watch.  I can't wait till his next game!

Brenna's Day

Brenna had a bit of  a rough day today.  She had to have her first fillings.  As it turns out, she had two "sugar bugs" (as the pediatric dentist calls them) on two adjacent teeth.  Seems that the cavity jumped from one tooth to the other.  Unfortunately for Brenna, she has a horrible gag reflex.  So, the Dentist set her up to have some Nitros gas for the procedure.  I am so glad that she had that to help.

I felt really bad for her.  She was terribly nervous. The Dentist was wonderful and explained to her each and every detail of the procedure.  While the Nitros gas helped with the gag reflex, it did not help her overcome her anxiety.  It was hard for me to see her so nervous, and not be able to fix it for her.  I know how it feels to sit in that chair and be scared.  The Dentist took all the time that Brenna needed to complete the procedure.  They were really great with her, and I am very thankful for their patience and kindness.  And I am very proud of Brenna for handling a new and difficult experience.  She was very brave.

Of course, after we were done, Brenna was fixated on the numb feeling in her mouth.  Since she had never had novicaine (sp?) before, she did not know quite what to think of it.  She kept running into the bathroom to check out her lop-sided smile.

As a treat, I told her that I would take them out to dinner.  Todd is in Canada, so I decided to suck it up and take her to one of her favorite places (and one of Todd's not so favorite places), Friendlys.  She was extra excited when we got there and saw that they had a face painter.  She could not wait.  It is so nice when the simple little things can make someone so happy. This certainly made a nice ending to a stressful day for my little girl.

Life in New England is busy, but fun.  Over the weekend, we had the pleasure of attending a school function at the roller skating rink.  I had not been on skates since High School (at the latest) so I was curious to see how I did.  Lucky for me, Brenna needed a little help so I did not last long on my skates.  I could not really help her when I was barely staying upright on my own!  So, I ended up walking around the rink with her for awhile, until she got her confidence up.

Now I have to say that I was impressed by Todd.  I had never seen him on skates before, and it seemed to come right back to him.  My only disappointment was that I did not get a picture of him on skates!  I wanted to preserve that memory.  Who knows when I will see that again.

I was very proud of the kids.  They both kept at it and were making noticeable progress by the end of the party.  Brenna can't wait to go back.  We are going to need to get them some roller-blades so they can practice at home.

(Don't you love the bright orange skates???)

Brenna started school soccer a few weeks ago.  This week she was determined to keep her "streak" going and get another goal.  And I'll be darned (don't I sound like my Dad?), she did.  As you can see, she had the same proud look on her face this time.  (Sorry for the blurry picture.)

And finally, the last bit of news from up north... Brenna lost ANOTHER tooth tonight at dinner!   She was super excited!  And I just love her crazy new smile!

My backyard visitor

I finally got it. I have been trying all week to get a picture of a Tom with his feathers out. And I finally got one tonight. He is hanging out with his family by our bird-feeder. The kids love watching them!  He's pretty cool looking, don't you think?
